V&A & The Royal Household
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Emblem Competition
In May 2021, Sarah built, designed and fully configured a website and customisable content management system to facilitate a high-profile, UK competition. The V&A and The Royal Household wanted to invite young people aged 13-25 to design an emblem for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. The V&A contacted Sarah to project manage the digital build using Award Force , a special platform for administering competitions.
The project involved close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team at the V&A and a tight deadline. Sarah worked with the V&A’s digital, PR, data policy and legal teams. She managed the competition configuraton, moderation and judging rounds for the site as well as all copy and terms and conditions, making sure the mechanics would align with Award Force and GDPR. In addition Sarah communicated with The Royal Household’s special advisors to deliver a design consistent with their brand guidelines and protocols.
The competition was launched on BBC’s The One Show and received national press attention. 1,143 secure entries were successfully submitted and judged in two rounds by professionals from the field of art and design. This culminated in the annnnouncement of the overall winner – 19 year old Edward Roberts’ winning modern take on the St Edwards Crown.
Check out his reaction…
How clever is it that a ’70’ has been incorporated into the crown! ??
